Inspiration: A Year of Mornings and Handmade Nation

I love getting packages in the mail...especially when they contain wonderful books such as these! i don't buy new books very often, so it is always a big treat when I do.

This first book is
A Year of Mornings: 3191 Miles Apart by Maria Alexandra Vettese and Stephanie Congdon Barnes. It shows the yearlong project these two friends from opposite coasts undertook: taking a photo each morning without discussion, and then posting them side by side in their blog. The results are so intimate and quiet and beautiful.

Their photos look the way I want my life to feel.

The other book I got is Handmade Nation: The Rise of DIY, Art, Craft, and Design by Faythe Levine and Cortney Heimerl. I haven't had a chance to read much of it yet, but I can already tell that I will be very inspired by the interviews and photos of other artists/crafters/designers interviewed within. The book is a precursor to the film by the same name that Faythe directed and will be coming out next year. I can't wait to see it!

The above spread is by of Kate Bingaman - Burt aka Obsessive Consumption.
